Nick Inglis, CIP, IGP, INFO, is recognized as a passionate thought leader, advocate, and supporter of Information Governance. He has nearly twenty years of experience supporting learning, innovation, and economic development in facilitating the creation of the profession of Information Governance. Today, Nick is the Founder of InfoAdvocates and The Providence Watch Company.

Nick has successfully served in multiple high-profile roles in the information space. Inglis’ past roles include Director of Professional Development at AIIM International; Co-Founder and President of the Information Coalition and Information Governance Conference (which he led to an acquisition by ARMA International); CEO of Optismo (consulting firm); and Executive Director of Content & Programming at ARMA International.

Inglis’ numerous contributions to the broader information profession include the ARMA Information Governance Implementation Model (IGIM), ARMA Essentials of Information Governance training course, the ARMA IG Maturity Index & Survey (with Ann Snyder), and his books, “The AIIM SharePoint 2010 Governance Toolkit” (out of print), “INFORMATION: The Comprehensive Overview of the Information Profession” and “Advancing from eDiscovery to preDiscovery.”

Nick has spoken at hundreds of events, provided education to thousands of information professionals worldwide, and authored numerous articles in outlets as diverse as CMSWire and Yahoo! Finance to the Providence Journal and US News & World Report.

In addition to his work with the information profession, Inglis served on the Ethics Commission for the City of Providence, Rhode Island, and has worked on numerous political campaigns and lobbying efforts. Among his notable accomplishments was leading lobbying efforts for RI Promise on behalf of the Providence Student Union, where Inglis served as College Campaign Director (temporary). RI Promise was a proposal by then-Governor Gina Raimondo, passed in 2018. RI Promise allows every graduating high schooler in Rhode Island to go to Community College of RI tuition-free for two years. Enrollment in the RI community college system enrollment increased by over 50%. It resulted in drastic increases in BIPOC higher education attainment levels. Inglis was also involved in the Rhode Island Net Neutrality campaign, which led to a Gubernatorial Executive Order. Nick was also involved in the RI Fair Shot Agenda (which laid the pathway toward K-12 school environment improvements, increased minimum wage, and prescription drug affordability).

Inglis maintains mentoring relationships with a handful of professionals in the information space, leaders of industry startups on the path to an acquisition, and some community organizers working on education equity initiatives.

As the Founder of InfoAdvocates (a cross-disciplinary collaborative for the information profession), Inglis is investing in the future of the Information Profession. Ever diverse in his interests, Inglis also founded The Providence Watch Company.

Inglis has received numerous accolades for his diverse work; he was named a Rhode Island “50 on Fire”, a Providence Ambassador by the Rhode Island Convention & Visitors Bureau, and a citizen commendation from Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza.

Nick Inglis lives in Providence, Rhode Island, with his wife, son, dog (RIP Betsy), and four cats.
